Building in Public: Introducing Two Open-Source Projects & Inviting You to Contribute! 🚀
I’m incredibly excited to (finally) share two passion projects I’ve been heads-down on, and I’m opening them up to the community in the hope that we can build something remarkable together.
The journey of a developer is often about solving interesting problems, and these two tools represent my dive into two fascinating domains: AI/Computer Vision and Quantitative Finance.
1. 🤖 The Facial Recognition Tool
This project is a scalable, privacy-conscious tool designed to make facial recognition more accessible for developers. It’s built with a focus on ease of use, clear documentation, and the potential for integration into larger systems for security, user experience, or research applications.
- Tech Stack: Python, OpenCV, Deep Learning models (e.g., FaceNet, DeepFace), NumPy.
- The Vision: To create a robust foundation that others can build upon without getting lost in the complexities of underlying algorithms.
2. 📈 The Smart Trading Tool
This is an algorithmic trading toolkit designed to backtest and simulate trading strategies. The goal is to provide a structured framework for validating ideas against historical data, managing risk, and analyzing performance—all without requiring a massive infrastructure.
- Tech Stack: PHP, Rubix ML for PHP, various financial data APIs.
- The Vision: To demystify quant trading and provide a transparent, educational platform for developers and traders to experiment and learn.
Why Open Source?
I truly believe that technology moves faster when we collaborate. Open-sourcing these projects is about more than just code; it’s about sharing knowledge, sparking new ideas, and building something greater than any one person could alone.
This is where you come in. 🙌
I’m inviting developers, data scientists, engineers, and enthusiasts from my network to take a look. There are countless ways to contribute, and every single one is valuable:
- For the Coders: PRs for features, bug fixes, or optimizations.
- For the Researchers: Improving model accuracy or developing new trading logic.
- For the Documentarians: Improving docs, tutorials, or READMEs.
- For the Testers: Opening issues, reporting bugs, or suggesting new features.
- For the Supporters: Giving the projects a ⭐ star on GitHub to help others find them!
